Micheal will lead a group to the summit of Wayna Picchu (8,924 ft), then descend the far side of the mountain to view what Hyram Bingham called the “Temple of the Moon.” There is no direct evidence that the site was ever used for moon worship, but the name remains in use.

In the picture to the right Micheal and his two sons, Cristóbal and Benjamín sit inside the cave called by this name. The last time I was there, the cave was roped off because of the restoration work in progress, but you could still view the stonework from just outside the entrance.

The extremely high quality stonework suggests that the site had tremendous importance.
